Dokapon Kindom Review on IGN AA. 8/10. Best RPG on system? According to IGN yes o_ohttp://wii.ign.com/articles/920/920364p2.html 5.5 Presentation
There isn't much in the game's front end, and what little interface there is comes off as very simple. No IR used for in-game or out, but the ****is still lighthearted and fun.6.0Graphics
Not exactly the prettiest game, but some of the animations and character models are still well done. Simple and PS2-like in every way, but hardly intrusive on the final product. 480p and 16:9 both in.7.5Sound
You'll find some character VO thrown in, and a pretty epic score to go with it. ****c ''every RPG'' feel, but also well produced. 8.0Gameplay
You won't find a deeper RPG on Wii right now, or a more entertaining party game. Single player isn't too hot though, so it's a multiplayer-only affair in our eyes.8.0Lasting Appeal
There's only one main world to run around in, but it's large enough to keep you busy for the 15 hour story mode. Missions are fun, and multiplayer is a blast. Online, and a larger world are needed.OVERALL
(8 out of 10 / not an average)Dokapon Review IGN, AA.
great! it's good to see a solid rpg on wii.now, sting should make riviera remake or something like riviera. loved that game on gba.Dokapon Review IGN, AA.
He's wrong about the best RPG but this is a game that I had no doubt about.
This is exactly what the industry needs.
A terrific game
guess i will get it
I won't get it, they said the single player sucks, and thats mostly what I would be playing.
He's wrong about the best RPG but this is a game that I had no doubt about.
Now I'm curious.Which game do you consider to be the best RPG?
It has also been reviewed by wired - 9http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/10/review-the-quir.html And Nintendo power - 8.5
On physical disc, Dokapon Kingdom has no competition. Maybe he's comparing it to a Virtual Console game? Truth be told, this is one of several SNES games the world outside Japan never even got hyped for. Breathing life into this is going to start breaking the mold for future itenerations.Maybe even Itadaki Street!
I think Puzzle Quest is a great RPG with unconventional RPG elements and then you have Chocobo's Dungeon.I have Puzzle Quest and I've been able to play some of Chocobo and they are both fantastic. I haven't had a chance to get my hands on this one yet but Puzzle Quest is one of the best RPG's this generation, I can't see this one topping it from how they reviewed it.
i'm shocked, the last dokapon game i played i thru out the window cuz it was such crap...

http://diehardgamefan.com/2008/10/16/review-dokapon-kingdom-ps2/Here's a review from a website I don't know of but it goes into detail and offers a good amount of info on the game. It's a ps2 review, but the wii version is identical.
I definitely agree with you on Puzzle Quest. It took me by surprise. I ended up getting it on the PC, though I'm thinking about renting the Wii version to see how it stacks up. I would love to play this game while relaxing on the couch. As for Chocobo's Dungeon... yeah, if you only get to sample the game it's great. Unfortunately nothing changes as you get further into the game, so it gets extremely repetitive. I got it the first week it came out and I thought it was amazing, but months later, I still haven't finished it because it's just that boring. Even unlocking the extra classes doesn't help kill off the monotony, unfortunately.Dokapon Kingdom looks fantastic and I'm looking forward to trying it out. Where it beats out those other two games is in multiplayer. It's an RPG and a party game in one (sort of, heh). I just hope my wife likes it, or I'll be stuck playing single player except for the rare occasion my nephew comes to visit.
I bet you're feeling vindicated now, right? :P You've been hyping this game for a while now.
I don't need to feel vindicated...I've been excited for this ever since I saw footage of Dokapon DX after the first DK announcement. Sadly, Play-asia wanted over $50 for a simple ship of a bargain bin GC game. Since my friend went to Sweden instead of Japan this year, I couldn't pick it up to post some gameplay footage before DK hit shelves. Not that showing DX would really help...since the Dokapon license went to Sting after the game flopped.Atlus was very aggressive to show reviewers how to play this game, and they are recieving higher scores than many sites gave Mario Party because of it. Proving that a small company can market their product effectively without needing to sacrifice gameplay elements to appease fans. But I don't want this to be a reviewer darling, I want this to be a yearly purchase. That's why I've been giving this game such massive word-of-mouth treatment. The board game market doesn't need to be a rehash market, this is just a big way to tip the scales in the other direction.

It looked kinda kiddy though, which was misleading. You should make a siggie picture to advertise it more.
Since the single player isnt as good I will probably rent it. I think ToS2 will be the best RPG on the system very soon though. Unless that is considered a JRPG >_>
If me and my friends had a lot of free time to play games I would get it but I think I will pass. Unfortunately.

Unless that is considered a JRPG >_>
I don't make that distinction (nor do most people in this board). I differ turn-based, action-based, and dungeon crawlers.TOS 2 will be the best rpg in america very soon, but the Marvelous train will likely obliterate such feelings by next summer.Nobody's fault but Namdai, take a year to translate a game and you're bound to lose your long tail.
