Presented the way they were back in the day
That means NES games run at 240p and so ondo Wii virtual Console games have anti-a ...
so does it look like crap on an HDTV? or even regular SD/EDtv for that matter?
Well the only exception is the N64, those games do get a bit of a facelift. Everything else looks better then it did in the day it was released simple because the technology to get it to the screen has increased. Plus in many cases the screen has been technologically increased. It all depends on the TV really. A lot of people think they get a great HD set but their SD broadcasting is crap. Or they have a slow refresh rate. Or they went with a 120 set and it lags. All the games with good art direction look good, all the ones with poor art direction look bad.
It will look better on VC here's a nice comparsion. http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2007/2/14/7044 Note the Wii is hooked up with component cables.
I've played an Nes, Genesis, N64, and a PSOne on an HDTV. They all look awful. Most VC games support progressive scan. The biggest difference though is the richer colors. And this^ shows you.
