well the 3d games are much more complex. in the 2d games, the fighting was limited to simple sword slashes and shooting straight ahead. the stories and plot development was also very limited. in the 3d games, the fighting has 3 or 4 different sword combos, lock on, the boomerang can have 5 targets, different types of bombs and arrows, and the bosses are much more inventive (not really much harder, but definately more creative). the stories are much deeper too. you can see the characters' emotions and get to know their personalities.but all of this isn't really because its 3d, it because of the more advanced hardware. if nintendo were to make a 2d zelda on the wii, they would still be able to do most of these things,IYO what makes 3D Zelda games so compell ...
The adventure and exploration. That sense of accomplishment you get when you earn a new item or make it through a dungeon.
Being able to take your time to look around and attempt anything that comes to mind is what is the best thing about it.
the dungeons now, it used to be about the story and the music

I like the challenge of the puzzles (the challenge of the enemies aren't that hard, but I guess i'm the only one that thinks that's not that important). I love the universe, it's obviously fantasy, without feeling to lord of the rings IMO, while still feeling like a game. I like the subtle humor. I enjoy the quiet hero (it doesn't try to impress the teenage boys with a hero like kratos). From a gaming standpoint alone,... it has some of the best level design ever created.
I like the4 puzzles, and the exploration, and I kinda like the music.But I hate how they always make Wanter dungeons a living hell :?
