There's no need for another answer... He just told you. After you first fight Vader, you go to the other room and you can choose to go fight theEmperorand save (I forget his name) or fight Vader again. Fighting the Emperor results in the ''Light ending'' or the true canonical ending. Fighting Vader results in the ''Dark ending'' which is theoretical since it conflicts with the rest of the Star Wars universe.
